Synergy Shipbuilders N Dock Works Ltd., based in Goa, is pioneering aluminium vessel construction in India amid a steel-dominated industry. Established in 1988 by marine engineer Shriram Malik, the company has evolved from modest beginnings into a reputable builder of more than 100 vessels across multiple segments. This journey has been marked by strategic pivots, including a significant shift to aluminium shipbuilding in 2013, positioning them uniquely within the Indian shipbuilding landscape.

The decision to embrace aluminium was pivotal, as few private Indian shipyards had ventured into this space. Synergy’s successful contracts, including two high-speed aluminium boats for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, necessitated significant investments in workforce training and advanced construction techniques, solidifying their status as industry leaders. Today, the company offers a diverse range of vessels, including crew boats and passenger ferries, catering to high-performance markets.

Looking ahead, Synergy aims to scale aluminium shipbuilding operations in both Goa and a new facility in Mumbai, fostering innovation and pursuing export opportunities. With a commitment to sustainability, they are exploring eco-friendly technologies while tackling challenges like sourcing marine-grade aluminium and addressing design innovation gaps in India. Their goal is clear: to establish Synergy Shipbuilders as a global leader in aluminium vessel construction, designed, built, and flagged in India.
