Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, two Indian-flagged LPG carriers, Jag Vasant and Pine Gas, have safely navigated the critical Strait of Hormuz and are expected to reach Indian ports later this week, as confirmed by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways. The carriers transported a total of 92,612.59 metric tonnes of LPG and have 33 and 27 Indian crew members on board, respectively. Their expected arrival is between March 26 and 28.
This marks the successful transit of five Indian vessels since the conflict began, including prior shipments of LPG and Murban crude oil. The ministry also reported stability in maritime operations, with no incidents involving Indian vessels over the past 24 hours, ensuring the safety of all Indian seafarers in the region.
Currently, 22 Indian vessels, staffed by around 600 seafarers, are operating in the western Persian Gulf. Eleven crew members have been repatriated per standard procedures, adding to over 547 Indian seafarers who have returned home amid the ongoing conflict.
Despite regional tensions, India’s maritime sector remains stable, with no port congestion reported. State Maritime Boards across several Indian states confirmed normal operations, complementing ongoing efforts to monitor shipping movements and ensure crew safety.
