The CMA CGM Group celebrated the arrival of its first Indian-flagged containership, CMA CGM Vitoria, at the Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal on April 28, 2025. The event, attended by India’s Minister of State for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Shantanu Thakur, highlighted CMA CGM’s growing commitment to India. The vessel, with a capacity of 2,592 TEU, operates within the Group’s BIGEX Network, offering direct weekly links between India, the Gulf, and the Red Sea.
This registration marks CMA CGM’s first local flag in India, with plans for three additional vessel registrations soon. The company also stands out as the first foreign shipping line to register a containerized ship in India’s GIFT City. With a notable presence in India for 34 years and a workforce of 17,000, CMA CGM plays a crucial role in facilitating global trade, connecting India through 19 weekly maritime services and investing in local port infrastructure.
Additionally, the Group is enhancing its operations through CEVA Logistics, which manages extensive warehouse space across India. CMA CGM’s strategic focus includes playing a vital role in the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), leveraging its modern fleet and logistics expertise for effective trade solutions.
