UK marine carbon capture innovator Seabound has marked a significant milestone with the launch of its first full-scale onboard carbon capture systems at its Doncaster research and development hub. This achievement was celebrated at the “Seabound Sendoff” event, which drew over 70 attendees, including customers, partners, investors, and public sector representatives. Following successful trials on land, the systems are set to be installed on the UBC Cork, a cement carrier chartered by Heidelberg Materials.

During the event, Seabound also unveiled a new partnership and secured EUR 1.5 million in funding from the European Space Agency to aid in scaling its commercial operations. Additionally, the company announced a collaboration with thyssenkrupp Polysius aimed at producing green lime, which is essential for achieving net-positive carbon capture.
