Alfa Laval UK has enhanced its dry-docking support services for shipowners by introducing pre-docking audits and customized spare parts packages aimed at minimizing turnaround times and maximizing fleet uptime. This initiative seeks to transform dry-docking from a perceived cost burden into an opportunity for improved performance through better planning and tailored maintenance.
A standout feature of the new service is the condition auditing conducted up to six months prior to dry-docking. According to Ezgi Sezen, UK Marine Services Manager, early audits can identify potential issues, allowing for proactive planning and reducing unexpected costs. These audits evaluate equipment conditions and maintenance needs, enabling Alfa Laval to prepare necessary services and spare parts well in advance.
The tailored spare parts offering includes customer-specific lists and predefined maintenance kits categorized into Basic, Standard, and Plus levels, based on operational needs. This strategic planning ensures that the right parts and expertise are ready upon a ship’s arrival, potentially converting saved time into operational revenue for shipowners.
Alfa Laval has also expanded its global dry-dock network, establishing service centers near major shipyards for consistent expertise and logistical efficiency. With 24/7 technical support, the company aims to simplify dry-docking, allowing shipowners to turn each docking into a performance upgrade.
