In response to the growing demand for LNG, Alfa Laval unveiled its new FCM LNG fuel supply system at Marintec 2025. This system incorporates cryogenic technology from Fives, recently acquired by Alfa Laval, enabling efficient and safe adoption of LNG as a marine fuel.
As the maritime industry moves towards decarbonization, LNG has emerged as a transitional fuel, providing a pathway for emission reductions while alternative fuels like methanol and ammonia are still being developed. The demand for reliable LNG solutions is increasing, helping marine customers meet performance targets and comply with regulations.
Alfa Laval’s expertise in cryogenic processes has been enhanced by its acquisitions of CorHex in 2015 and Fives Cryogenics in 2025. The FCM LNG system utilizes advanced technologies for high-pressure gas injection in marine diesel engines, offering flexibility across various capacities and pressures.
Engineered for extreme conditions, the system promises exceptional reliability and efficiency, making it a valuable solution for shipowners transitioning to cleaner fuels. The first test benches are expected in 2026, with the system ready for marine deliveries by 2027.
