The US Coast Guard is currently addressing a collision between the general cargo ship Pac Dubhe and the bulk carrier African Buzzard, which occurred near mile marker 124.5 on the Mississippi River. The African Buzzard has run aground, with its anchor entangled in the front of the Pac Dubhe.

Both vessel operators are assessing the situation and developing salvage plans to submit to the Coast Guard, while tugboats are assisting in the operation. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries to the crew members, and there is no visible environmental impact or pollution from the incident.

The Mississippi River remains open to vessel traffic despite the collision. In response to the incident, the Coast Guard, in collaboration with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), is conducting a joint investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
