Kongsberg Digital and PSA Marine Pte. Ltd. have formed a strategic partnership to enhance maritime harbour pilot training using advanced simulation technology. PSA Marine, based in Singapore, provides marine services such as pilotage and towage to various sectors, including ports, oil and gas, shipping, and renewable energy. With the maritime industry evolving with larger vessels and sustainable propulsion systems, PSA Marine recognized the need for advanced training to navigate these changes while ensuring safety and precision. The collaboration with Kongsberg Digital, a global leader in maritime simulation technology, aims to equip PSA Marine’s harbour pilots with the skills needed to navigate the complexities of modern maritime operations.
PSA Marine will be implementing advanced simulators from Kongsberg Digital in April 2025 to strengthen its training infrastructure. The simulators, including a Full Mission Bridge Simulator and a Full Mission Tug Bridge Simulator, will provide hyper-realistic training environments tailored to Singapore’s unique maritime conditions. This will allow harbour pilots to practice critical scenarios, such as navigating dense traffic and responding to emergencies, in a safe and controlled setting. The goal is to elevate PSA Marine’s pilotage capabilities and enhance port productivity in the Port of Singapore.
Mr. Er Wei Lim, Managing Director at PSA Marine, expressed excitement about the partnership with Kongsberg and the opportunity to enhance operational and training competencies. Are Føllesdal Tjønn, Managing Director of Maritime Simulation at Kongsberg Digital, highlighted the shared vision of advancing maritime safety and efficiency. The collaboration between PSA Marine and Kongsberg Digital demonstrates a commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability in maritime operations. By combining cutting-edge technology with expertise, the partnership aims to set a new benchmark for maritime pilot training and reinforce Singapore’s position as a global maritime leader.
