A European Union vessel, the ESPS Victoria, has successfully reached a Malta-flagged tanker, the Hellas Aphrodite, which was taken by pirates off the coast of Somalia. All 24 crew members aboard the tanker were found to be safe, according to the private security firm Diaplous Group. The EU vessel will remain near the tanker until it can navigate under its own power.
