Authorities in Singapore are probing a serious collision involving a ferry and a chemical tanker that caused panic among passengers. The incident, which took place late Monday afternoon, involved the Singapore-registered passenger ferry Horizon 9 and the Marshall Islands-registered tanker La Digue. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The ferry was heading to HarbourFront Centre when the collision occurred near the Southern Islands. Passengers recorded the chaotic scene, prompting the MPA to act swiftly by dispatching a patrol craft to escort the ferry back to safety. All 165 passengers and seven crew members aboard Horizon 9 were safely disembarked at the regional ferry terminal without incident.

Although the ferry, built in 2014, sustained considerable damage to its bow above the waterline, it remained operational during its return journey. Fortunately, the 183-meter tanker reported no damage, and there were no injuries or pollution resulting from the collision. The MPA confirmed that navigational traffic and port operations were unaffected, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
