French President Emmanuel Macron announced that around 15 countries are collaborating to resume traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial passage for global oil supply, following a ceasefire between the United States and Iran. He emphasized that these nations are mobilized under France’s leadership to implement a strictly defensive mission in coordination with Iran.
During a meeting with his advisors and cabinet members, Macron expressed optimism about the ceasefire but highlighted the ongoing critical situation in Lebanon. He urged that Lebanon should be included in any agreements stemming from the ceasefire discussions, reflecting France’s historical ties to the country as a former protectorate.
Macron’s remarks underscore the importance of regional stability and the need for inclusive diplomatic efforts to address broader tensions in the Middle East. He reiterated France’s commitment to ensuring that Lebanon benefits from the ceasefire arrangements.
This initiative represents a significant step towards enhancing security and facilitating the flow of oil through a vital maritime route, which is essential for the global economy.
