On Tuesday, climate activist Greta Thunberg, along with protesters from the Danish environmental group Den Gronne Ungdomsbevaegelse (The Green Youth Movement), occupied the offices of Maersk Tankers in Copenhagen. Their protest targeted the company’s fossil fuel transportation business, with activists chanting slogans and displaying signs. Some participants humorously “cleaned” the office’s glass partitions to critique Maersk Tankers’ perceived “greenwashing” efforts.

The protest also addressed A.P. Moller-Maersk, the parent company of Maersk Tankers, accusing it of transporting weapons to Israel. This claim aligns with broader anti-war sentiments expressed by various groups over the past year. While Maersk Tankers is part of the A.P. Moller Holding foundation, it operates independently and does not transport weapons, as it primarily focuses on wet bulk operations.

Activist Freya Skriver emphasized the group’s demands, urging Maersk to cease all shipments of weapons to Israel and to stop transporting oil and gas. The protest highlights ongoing concerns regarding corporate responsibility in environmental and geopolitical matters.
