Yemen’s Houthi rebels have released a video showing the sinking of the bulk carrier Magic Seas, which they attacked and boarded last weekend. The footage begins with an explosion on the ship’s starboard side, likely caused by one of two unmanned bomb boats that hit the vessel. Drone shots reveal damage from the blasts, indicating the severity of the attack.

The video also captures a boarding scene, where four Houthi fighters are seen entering the wheelhouse without resistance, as the crew had already abandoned ship and was rescued by a nearby vessel. This staged performance culminates in a display by armed militants on the deckhouse. The rebels planted multiple explosives below the waterline, resulting in at least seven blasts and rapid flooding, ultimately causing the ship to sink evenly.
Further validating the attack, the physical condition of the Magic Seas in the Houthi footage matches earlier crew videos. The Houthis have not ceased their operations; they launched another attack on the bulk carrier Eternity C, resulting in crew fatalities and leaving the ship’s status uncertain.
