Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry has requested a comprehensive investigation following the sinking of the UAE-flagged tugboat Musaffah 2 in the Strait of Hormuz, where three Indonesian crew members remain unaccounted for. Spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang announced that Indonesian officials in the UAE and Oman are actively collaborating with local authorities and the shipping company as inquiries into the incident progress.

Eyewitness reports indicate that the tugboat was engulfed in flames due to an explosion before it sank in the waters separating the UAE and Oman. The vessel had a total of seven crew members, including individuals from India and the Philippines. Four crew members survived, including one Indonesian, while efforts continue to locate the three missing Indonesians.

In light of the situation, Mewengkang urged Indonesian nationals in the Middle East, particularly those working on ships, to stay alert and keep in touch with official sources and local diplomatic missions.
