The Iranian Embassy in India has released a statement from Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. The statement asserts that lasting peace and stability in the region can only be achieved by halting the activities of the United States and Israel. Iran claims to adhere to the principles of the UN Charter and international law, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining stability in key maritime areas, including the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
The ministry underscored the necessity of respecting the sovereignty and rights of countries bordering these waters, asserting that any maritime security arrangements should involve Iran and consider its national interests. Iran expressed concerns over recent tensions, attributing the dangerous situation in the region to military actions by the U.S. and Israel, which it argues jeopardize the safety of shipping routes.
In light of these tensions, Iran has stated that it has taken defensive measures to prevent what it describes as “aggressor nations” from using the Strait of Hormuz for hostile purposes. The statement concludes by reiterating that long-term stability in the region requires adherence to international law, regional cooperation, and a cessation of military escalation.
