Major container shipping companies, including CMA CGM, Cosco Shipping Lines (CoscoSL), and Regional Container Lines (RCL), are revamping their service networks in Myanmar. This initiative aims to enhance feeder operations across Southeast Asia by introducing new service loops and reducing sailing frequencies. According to DynaLiners, these modifications involve merging services and altering port calls, which are crucial for maintaining trade routes between India and Myanmar.

CMA CGM’s CNC Line is consolidating its IDLW, YCX, and YSX services—previously operated with CoscoSL and RCL—into a new BY8 service. This new route will connect Singapore, Yangon, Port Kelang in Malaysia, and Belawan in Indonesia, with a rotation that includes Singapore, Yangon, Port Kelang, and Belawan.

Following its withdrawal from the YSX service, CoscoSL and RCL have eliminated the Port Kelang–Yangon segment from their SYM1/RSY service, resulting in a reduced frequency of one sailing every ten days. This service now operates with two 1,200 TEU vessels on a Singapore-Yangon-Singapore route. Additionally, CoscoSL has introduced a standalone SYM3 service to maintain coverage between Port Kelang and Yangon, utilizing two 1,000 TEU vessels weekly.

These strategic changes reflect ongoing efforts to streamline capacity in Southeast Asia’s feeder networks, which could significantly influence cargo flows from Indian ports like Kolkata and Chennai to Yangon, particularly amid shifting regional demand.
