A maritime growth organization has expanded its membership by welcoming GeoPura, a provider of zero-emission hydrogen power. This addition is seen as a significant boost to Teesside’s reputation as a leader in clean energy, industrial decarbonization, and sustainability. The partnership will enhance access to hydrogen expertise for Tees Maritime Cluster members, fostering cross-sector collaboration and reducing risks associated with zero-emission power projects.
GeoPura, headquartered in the North East and with additional locations in Yorkshire, Derbyshire, and Nottinghamshire, specializes in designing and supplying hydrogen power units. These units, developed in collaboration with Siemens Energy, generate electricity for various applications, eliminating the reliance on diesel generators in industrial, maritime, and event settings.
Jo Vinton-Bullwinkel, the operations director of Tees Maritime Cluster, emphasized that GeoPura’s involvement signals significant progress in hydrogen and clean energy initiatives. Teesside is not only setting ambitious goals but is also actively executing projects and fostering innovation. The inclusion of GeoPura is expected to provide members with practical insights and collaboration opportunities in the maritime and industrial sectors.
Derek Bulmer, GeoPura’s CFO, highlighted Teesside’s vital role in the UK’s industrial and maritime economy, asserting the region’s potential to lead in clean power delivery. He expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Tees Maritime Cluster members to implement practical projects, reduce emissions, and enhance the region’s status as a hub for hydrogen and clean energy innovation.
