Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) is advancing plans to commercialize an offshore rocket launch and recovery vessel through a partnership with Innovative Space Carrier (ISC) and Tsuneishi Solutions TokyoBay Co. This initiative stems from MOL’s ‘MOL Incubation Bridge’ program, which encourages employees to propose new business ideas, marking the company’s commitment to exploring space-related ventures.

MOL’s focus is on the offshore launch and recovery of rockets, with an aim for commercialization by 2030. The project will begin with the development of a recovery vessel, followed by a feasibility study for an offshore launch vessel. By successfully creating these vessels, MOL intends to contribute to a new space infrastructure that leverages ocean resources to support next-generation space transport.

The collaboration with ISC and Tsuneishi Solutions TokyoBay seeks to enhance the frequency of rocket launches, positioning MOL at the forefront of innovative space solutions. The partnership was highlighted at the Space Tide 2025 event, showcasing the commitment of the involved companies to advance this groundbreaking initiative.
