On March 11, two bulk carriers and a container ship were attacked, resulting in three seafarers missing from one of the vessels. The most severe incident involved the 2008-built Mayuree Naree, which was hit by two unidentified projectiles while navigating the Strait of Hormuz around 08:15 local time. According to its owner, Precious Shipping, the attack damaged the engine room and ignited a fire. The company reported that three crew members are believed trapped inside, and they are coordinating with authorities for their rescue. The remaining 20 crew members were safely evacuated to Oman, and efforts are underway to repatriate them to Thailand.
In a separate incident, the 2010-built container vessel ONE Majesty experienced an impact while anchored in the Persian Gulf on the same day. Owned by MOL and chartered by ONE, all crew members were accounted for, with no injuries or pollution reported. An inspection revealed minor damage above the waterline, and the vessel remains operational.
Additionally, UKMTO reported that a bulk carrier, identified as the 2006-built Star Gwyneth, was struck by an unknown projectile approximately 50 nautical miles northwest of Dubai. Greek media indicated that the crew is safe and the vessel sustained no significant damage or environmental impact. Notably, shipping data shows that another Star Bulk vessel, Star Maria, recently transited the Strait of Hormuz, marking it as one of the few Western-operated ships to do so since March 6.
