A Norwegian Cruise Line ship recently rescued 63 individuals lost in the Ionian Sea, off the coast of Greece. The incident occurred on the night of October 22, approximately 111 kilometers southwest of Zakynthos. The Norwegian Epic vessel collaborated with Greek authorities to ensure the safety of those stranded.

Upon rescue, the ship’s crew provided the individuals with medical attention, food, and comfort items. Following directives from the Rescue Coordination Centre, the ship proceeded to Kalamata, Greece, where the rescued individuals were handed over to local authorities. Details about the identities of the rescued persons have not been disclosed.

The Norwegian Epic, which embarked on a cruise from Civitavecchia, Italy, is scheduled to visit various destinations including Greece, Malta, Italy, and France. After completing the rescue, the ship resumed its planned itinerary, and the cruise line expressed gratitude for guests’ understanding during this unexpected event.

This incident is not isolated; earlier this year, a Royal Caribbean ship diverted its course to rescue 12 individuals lost at sea, demonstrating the commitment of cruise lines to assist those in distress.
