CAPE TOWN – The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) urges caution among the maritime community as a significant cold front approaches the Western Cape. Shoreline anglers, sailors, and coastal walkers are advised to stay vigilant as the cold front impacts the southwestern coastline.
NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon reported that the stormy weather is advancing toward the southern Cape. The South African Weather Services have issued warnings about high winds and heavy sea conditions, with waves reaching four to six meters.
Lambinon noted that the cold front may also affect the East Coast. He emphasized the importance of adhering to weather forecasts and exercising caution during this period. He advised against venturing to the coastline or launching boats unless absolutely necessary.
Commercial seafarers, sailors, and fishermen are reminded to wear life jackets and remain cautious while at sea. The NSRI appeals to the public to prioritize safety as the weather conditions worsen.
