On October 17, NYK and NYK Ship Management Pte. Ltd. (NYKSM) conducted a drill off the coast of Okinawa Island, simulating a response to a maritime accident. The scenario involved a fire in the cargo hold of a car carrier, which also collided with a small craft during firefighting operations. This exercise was part of the “Remember Naka-no-Se” safety campaign, executed in collaboration with various stakeholders, including Japan’s Maritime Bureau and the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters.

The drill effectively mimicked the pressures of a real emergency, focusing on fire response, rescue operations, and coordination with involved parties. NYKSM’s offices in Singapore and India participated in managing the incident, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration across regions.
