The Johor Port Authority has reported to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) that the oil leak at Langsat Terminal has been stopped, and efforts to clean up the spill are currently underway. The incident, which was confirmed on April 3, resulted in an oil patch being spotted in the eastern Johor Strait near Pulau Ubin. In response, three patrol craft from the MPA and an oil spill response craft have been deployed to assess the area and implement mitigation measures.

Following the oil spill at Langsat Terminal, clean-up operations are ongoing to address the oil patch off the northeastern coast of Pulau Ubin and along Changi Beach. As a precautionary measure, booms will be set up at Chek Jawa Wetlands in Pulau Ubin to safeguard biodiversity-sensitive areas. The Singapore Food Agency is collaborating with fish farms in the East Johor Straits to implement necessary preventive actions. Drones and satellite imagery are being utilized to monitor the surrounding waters for any additional oil patches, while an additional oil recovery system, the Marine Oil Sweeper, is on standby off Pulau Ubin to address any further oil patches at sea.

At present, no other oil patches have been observed at sea or onshore. The MPA, in conjunction with partner agencies, continues to monitor the situation closely. Efforts are ongoing to ensure the timely and effective clean-up of the oil spill and to prevent any adverse impact on the marine environment and local communities.
