U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently seized around 214 pounds (97 kilograms) of cocaine valued at approximately $1.7 million. The drugs were hidden within a parasitic device attached to the hull of the M/V Medstar, which had arrived from Rio Haina, Dominican Republic, on February 26.

The seizure took place during a routine inspection of the vessel, where officers utilized underwater drone technology to examine the hull. This innovative approach allowed them to uncover the concealed narcotics effectively.

Authorities are currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident. The successful operation highlights the effectiveness of advanced technology in combating drug smuggling efforts.
