Sumitomo is set to showcase ammonia bunkering in Singapore in 2027, collaborating with the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) to establish essential safety protocols, operational guidelines, and emergency response strategies. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance sustainable maritime practices.

In a related development, a consortium led by Keppel, which includes Sumitomo and Advario Asia Pacific, has been chosen by Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) and the MPA to progress to the next phase of a significant project. This initiative focuses on exploring comprehensive “low or zero” carbon ammonia solutions on Jurong Island, aimed at both power generation and bunkering applications.
