Synergy Marine Group has announced an expanded collaboration with Mercy Ships to support the welfare of the global seafaring community. The partnership includes providing maritime technical expertise, medical teleconsultations, targeted awareness campaigns, and fundraising efforts. This collaboration aims to enhance coordination in recruiting volunteers and supporting life-saving medical missions aboard Mercy Ships’ hospital ships, Africa Mercy and Global Mercy. The joint commitment of both organizations is to improve the lives of vulnerable communities and ensure sustainable access to critical healthcare services.
Mercy Ships has been providing free surgeries and medical training across Africa for over four decades. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization pivoted to focus on medical training, capacity building, and vaccine support to continue delivering critical care. Synergy Marine Group’s founder and Chairman, Captain Rajesh Unni, emphasized the importance of supporting Mercy Ships beyond providing office space. The collaboration includes follow-up teleconsultations for Mercy Ships’ medical missions to ensure continued care for patients in need.
Charlotte Nørholm Dyhr, Secretary General of Mercy Ships, expressed gratitude for the increasing collaboration with Synergy Marine Group. This partnership makes daily operations easier and more enjoyable for volunteers and employees, supporting the mission of providing free surgeries aboard hospital ships. Since its founding in 1978, Mercy Ships has performed over 117,000 life-saving procedures, trained local medical professionals, and provided healthcare education to empower communities. With hospital ships staffed by volunteer seafarers and medical professionals from 60 countries, Mercy Ships continues to make a difference in global healthcare.
