Authorities in Vizhinjam, located in Kerala, India, have officially charged the captain of a foreign-flagged commercial vessel following a maritime incident in the Arabian Sea last week. The captain of the Panama-registered chemical tanker Solis faces allegations of negligence after the tanker reportedly collided with the Indian trawler St Joseph.

The incident occurred on Saturday, March 7, when St Joseph was anchored approximately 120 nautical miles off the coast. Witnesses reported that the collision resulted in significant damage to the trawler, which subsequently sank within minutes.

Fortunately, nine crew members from St Joseph were rescued and brought aboard the Solis shortly after the incident. The investigation into the collision is ongoing as officials work to gather more details surrounding the events that led to this maritime accident.
