The Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Australian Border Force have praised French Polynesian authorities for seizing approximately 4.87 tonnes of cocaine in the Pacific Ocean, believed to be destined for Australia. AFP Commander Stephen Jay highlighted the collaborative efforts of local authorities and mentioned that AFP members and Taskforce Thunder will work together to identify potential connections to Australia.

Acting Commander of the Australian Border Force, Linda Cappello, emphasized that those attempting to exploit maritime routes for drug trafficking face increased risks due to heightened regional vigilance. She stated, “Coordinated vigilance across the region significantly increases the risk of detection and disruption.”
