June 25 marks World Seafarers’ Day, and in celebration, Longxue Subdistrict in Guangzhou’s Nansha District unveiled three key initiatives: the International Crew Rotation Center, the Greater Bay Area International Crew Rotation Center, and the Nansha Departure Tax Refund Store for Seafarers. The newly established Nansha International Crew Rotation Center serves as a joint inspection facility, allowing for streamlined clearance processes for international seafarers.
Leo Verchov, the first seafarer to use the center, praised the improved efficiency of the clearance process compared to previous years. Meanwhile, the Greater Bay Area International Crew Rotation Center, located at Vensue Hotel, offers various recreational amenities, including a lounge bar, restaurant, and wellness facilities, catering to seafarers’ needs for relaxation and entertainment.
Additionally, the Nansha Departure Tax Refund Store allows travelers to apply for tax refunds on purchases over 200 yuan, enhancing the shopping experience for departing seafarers. Indian seafarer Gaurav expressed enthusiasm for local products, noting their intention to share cookies with their crew. This initiative highlights the growing support for seafarers in the region.
