On June 25, 2025, the International Seafarers’ Day ceremony took place at the National Museum in Dagon Township, Yangon, highlighting the significant contribution of Myanmar’s seafarers. Captain Soe Min Aung, President of the Myanmar Seafarers’ Federation (MSF), noted that nearly 40,000 seafarers leave Myanmar annually, with around 20,000 officially certified for international work.

Captain Soe Min Aung emphasized the federation’s role in providing medical treatment, salary entitlements, and insurance benefits to injured seafarers. The MSF also tackles issues like unpaid wages and workplace challenges.
The ceremony featured attendance from notable figures, including Dr. Ko Ko Naing, Director-General of the Department of Maritime Transport, alongside MSF executives and members. Captain Soe Min Aung reaffirmed MSF’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for seafarers by addressing their concerns and advocating for their rights.
