Authorities have not yet confirmed the status of the 13 missing Filipino seafarers from the MV Eternity C, which was attacked by Houthi militants. During a press conference at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Cacdac acknowledged reports of potential fatalities but stressed that the government is cautious about drawing conclusions. "We are still verifying who among the crew is alive and who may be among the casualties," he stated, highlighting the sensitivity of the situation.

Cacdac noted that search and rescue efforts are ongoing, despite the withdrawal of initial rescue boats due to Houthi forces surrounding the area. He mentioned that the ship owner is coordinating efforts to account for the missing crew and has alerted passing ships to assist in the search.

Meanwhile, Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega indicated that the Omani Foreign Minister is prepared to provide assistance. The DFA is also in contact with a Yemeni honorary consul linked to the Houthis to clarify reports that some crew members may be held captive. Cacdac assured that the DMW is maintaining close communication with the families of the missing seafarers.
