President Marcos assured the public on Friday that the government is actively working to ensure the safety and repatriation of Filipino seafarers aboard the MV Tutor, which was attacked by Houthi rebels. The Department of Migrant Workers reported that 22 Filipino seafarers were onboard, with one crew member missing.
In a video message, President Marcos stated that officials are in coordination with the UK Maritime Trade Operations to facilitate the immediate transfer of the crew to Djibouti. From there, arrangements will be made for the seafarers to return home to the Philippines. The President emphasized the government’s commitment to bringing the crew members home safely and providing necessary assistance throughout the process.
President Marcos reiterated his assurance that all efforts are being made to support the Filipino seafarers and ensure their well-being. The government’s priority is to secure the safe return of the crew members, with ongoing coordination with international maritime authorities to facilitate their repatriation.
