Port Everglades set a new cruise passenger record in Fiscal Year 2024, with a total of 4,010,919 guests embarking and disembarking from the port. This marked a 39% increase from the previous year, as cruise lines fully recovered from the impact of the pandemic. The port’s previous record was set in FY2014 with 3,880,033 guests, but this year’s record is expected to be short-lived, with an anticipated 4.4 million guests in FY2025.
The increase in passenger counts was accompanied by a 23% rise in cruise ship calls at Port Everglades. In 2014, it took 887 cruise ship calls to set the passenger record, compared to just 648 calls this year. This decrease in the number of calls needed to reach the record can be attributed to the larger size of the ships now visiting the port. The growth in both passenger counts and ship calls reflects the port’s strong recovery and increasing popularity as a cruise destination.
As the cruise industry continues to rebound, Port Everglades is poised for further growth in the coming years. The port’s strategic location and modern facilities have contributed to its success in attracting more cruise lines and passengers. With a record-breaking year behind them, Port Everglades looks forward to welcoming even more guests in the future and solidifying its position as a key player in the cruise industry.
