Qatar Airways introduced the Mariner Lounge at Hamad International Airport in 2020 to cater to seafarers and offshore workers in transit. Despite concerns that the lounge might be repurposed for high-paying business passengers now that travel has returned to normal, Nataraj Iyer, VP Business Travel for Qatar Airways, assured that the lounge is here to stay and exclusively for seafarers and offshore workers with the necessary documentation. The lounge offers amenities such as unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi, showers, and a rest area, providing a place for seafarers to rest and connect with loved ones during layovers.

The Mariner Lounge at Hamad International Airport is a dedicated space for seafarers and offshore workers, ensuring that they have a comfortable and convenient place to relax and access essential facilities while in transit. The lounge is strictly reserved for individuals with the appropriate documentation, and cannot be accessed by other Qatar Airways passengers or card holders. This initiative aims to provide support and convenience for seafarers during their travels, offering amenities such as unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi, showers, and a rest area, without any time limits for those on lengthy layovers between flights.
