The International Group of P&I Clubs has released a video showcasing the work of the Personal Injury Committee, highlighting its role in addressing personal injury claims within the maritime industry. The committee, chaired by Karen Williams, collaborates with other organizations in the shipping community to protect life, health, and safety at sea.

As part of the International Group, the Personal Injury Committee focuses on facilitating discussions, sharing best practices, and collaborating with stakeholders to improve safety standards and care within the maritime sector. The committee addresses a wide range of personal injury claims, including those involving seafarers, passengers, and individuals on shore, while also placing a strong emphasis on mental health support for seafarers.

Despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical events impacting seafarer welfare, the committee has adapted swiftly to ensure the well-being of those at sea. It is actively involved in providing data to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to enhance port security measures and is working on a pilot project to automate data collection for improved information sharing in the future. Looking ahead, the committee remains focused on addressing ongoing issues and has established a new working group to comprehensively tackle personal injury claims.
