Russian Deputy Far East and Arctic Development Minister Anatoly Bobrakov has revealed plans to renew the maritime transport corridor between Chennai and Vladivostok. He also indicated that a visit to Chennai is in the works to further discuss the renewal of the route. Bobrakov also attended the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit and highlighted the potential for collaboration between India and Russia in areas such as pharmaceuticals and logistics.
The Chennai-Vladivostok maritime transport corridor previously functioned successfully during the Soviet era, and in 2019, an agreement was signed between the Russian Ministry of Transport and the Indian Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways to develop marine traffic between the two ports. Bobrakov emphasized the strong interest in Indian business circles in Russia, particularly in the forest and Arctic sectors, and expressed confidence in the potential for mutual prosperity between the two countries.
On the other hand, Ambassador of Slovenia to India, Mateja Vodeb Ghosh, praised the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. She noted the strength of India’s business opportunities and expressed the intention of the Slovenian embassy in New Delhi to present a business delegation with high-level officials from the government. Ghosh also highlighted the positive and friendly relations between India and Slovenia, illustrating the frequent exchanges of visits and growing business engagement, and expressed optimism about the future of the bilateral relationship.
