The 1,374 TEU capacity Safeen Pride, part of the Safeen Feeders fleet, made her first call at the port of Shuwaikh in Kuwait on Monday.

“The launch of the new container and ro-ro services to Kuwait comes as part of AD Ports Group’s continued pursuit of excellence and leadership in maritime trade and logistics, strengthening commercial connectivity, delivering economies of scale and facilitation of global trade movement through its flagship Khalifa Port,” AD Ports Group said.

“We are delighted to launch this new container shipping service from Khalifa Port to Shuwaikh Port, which will contribute to enhanced trade exchanges between the UAE and Kuwait. We anticipate that this new service will provide the private sector with more ways to transport goods and merchandise,” said Matar Al Neyadi, UAE Ambassador to Kuwait.

Following recent acquisitions, AD Ports Group announced that it operates the third largest independent feeder company by volume in the world, with a total container capacity of 100,000 TEU, connecting core markets in the Gulf, Indian Subcontinent, Red Sea and Turkey.

“This new route, which includes a ro-ro service, underscores our leading role as the region’s leading provider of logistics, industry and commerce. We are committed to building robust business relationships and developing new ways of working together to continually improve trade connectivity,” said Capt. Ammar Al Shaiba, Acting CEO Maritime Cluster and Safeen Group, AD Ports Group.

A Kuwaiti official said trade between the UAE and Kuwait has seen “remarkable growth” in recent years, driven by efforts to expand cooperation and increase non-oil trade volumes.
