A crew member of the Liberia-flagged vessel Utopia has gone missing in Singapore waters, prompting a search operation by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The incident was reported to the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) at 3.30am on March 15. Vessels from MPA, the police coast guard, and the Singapore Civil Defence Force have been deployed to search for the missing crew member.
MPA has issued navigational safety broadcasts and requested vessels to keep a lookout and report any sightings to MRCC. The Utopia, a bulk carrier currently anchored in Singapore’s Eastern Anchorage, is involved in transporting large amounts of unpackaged bulk cargo such as metal ores, coal, cereal, or salt. The search operation is ongoing as authorities work to locate the missing crew member and ensure the safety of all involved in the maritime incident.

The vessel, which specializes in transporting bulk cargo, is currently anchored in Singapore’s Eastern Anchorage.
