AES and shipowner Seaspan have entered into a partnership to provide LNG bunkering services to shipping vessels in the Panama Canal and other regional markets. AES is expanding its Costa Norte LNG terminal in Panama, which will include new LNG refuelling infrastructure on LNG carriers. The terminal is set to start operations in November 2023 and will be able to supply LNG for bunkering or regional distribution. Seaspan will provide its LNG bunker vessels to the terminal, allowing them to offer LNG marine fuelling from the second half of 2024. The facility will also offer temporary storage and reloading using Costa Norte’s storage tank.

This collaboration between AES and Seaspan is a significant development for the regional LNG industry.
