Indonesian operator Telkomsel has partnered with ZTE to launch MarineMobile, a 5G-based mobile maritime solution aimed at helping fishermen overcome operational challenges. The solution provides access to weather forecasts, fishing location determination, GPS tracking, and real-time access to fish buyers in the market. This collaboration is a continuation of the existing partnership between Telkomsel and ZTE, focusing on testing the enhancement of 5G network capabilities and expanding broadband service coverage for maritime regions.

The MarineMobile solution integrates Massive MIMO technology and Ultra 5G coverage features, utilizing ZTE i5GC to deliver low latency and high throughput of up to 250 Mbps. Telkomsel’s broadband coverage in the coastal areas of Gorontalo was improved using ZTE’s 5G Radio devices with Active antenna technology, resulting in enhanced operational effectiveness and efficiency, reduced costs, and increased profits through more precise fishing activities. This enhancement has also led to an 11 percent increase in fish catch volume in the second quarter of 2023 compared to the previous year.

The collaboration between Telkomsel and ZTE has resulted in the introduction of the MarineMobile solution, which has improved broadband coverage in coastal areas and led to increased fish catch volume. The solution integrates advanced technologies to provide fishermen with access to crucial information and real-time connectivity, ultimately enhancing operational effectiveness and efficiency. This partnership demonstrates the potential of 5G technology in addressing the unique needs of maritime industries and improving overall productivity.
