Maersk and MSC topped schedule reliability among container lines in February according to analysts Sea Intelligence.

With the reduction of supply chain congestion, the schedule reliability of container lines is experiencing dramatic improvements across the board.

SeaIntel’s Global Liner Performance Report showed a 7.7% increase in schedule reliability to 60.2% between January and February of this year. Timetable reliability increased by 26% year-on-year compared to the same month in 2022. The report covers over 60 lines in 34 different trades worldwide.

Of the top 14 airlines, Maersk and MSC were the most reliable with 64.9% and 64.4% schedule reliability, respectively. Hamburg Süd, a brand set to disappear and become part of Maersk, was the only other airline to manage over 60% schedule adherence.

The remaining 11 top 14 carriers all had schedule adherence in the 50-60% range, with the least reliable line being ZIM with 52% schedule adherence.

“Year-over-year, all airlines saw double-digit improvements in adherence to schedules in February 2023, with Wan Hai registering the largest improvement at 36.2 percentage points,” noted SeaIntel CEO Alan Murphy.
