SAFEEN Subsea, a part of AD Ports Group’s Maritime & Shipping Cluster, has introduced SAFEEN Green, an unmanned vessel that operates on renewable electric power or biofuel. This vessel is designed to revolutionize marine surveys and inspections by delivering geophysical data to commercial standards while prioritizing operational efficiency and environmental sustainability. SAFEEN Green can operate up to 200 nautical miles offshore, collecting data with minimal environmental impact and controlled from an onshore remote operation center using navigation and safety technologies.

The emissions of SAFEEN Green are only 10% of a conventional vessel, showcasing its potential to reduce the offshore sector’s carbon footprint. The unmanned design not only lowers personnel risk but also features dual autopilots, redundant HD cameras, and monitoring systems for secure operations. With modular payload options and optimized fuel economy, SAFEEN Green offers a cost-effective solution without compromising performance. The vessel has entered the UAE offshore market after successful trials in the North Sea, catering to sectors like oil and gas, wind farms, and deep-sea mineral exploration.

Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of the Maritime & Shipping Cluster at AD Ports Group, emphasized the significance of SAFEEN Green in promoting sustainability and technological innovation in the maritime industry. The integration of advanced remote operations and zero-emission capabilities sets new standards for safety, efficiency, and competitiveness while contributing to a greener future. Tareq Abdulla Al Marzooqi, CEO of SAFEEN Subsea, highlighted the vessel’s ability to operate independently for extended periods and perform various subsea tasks, making it a valuable asset for offshore EPC projects in the region. SAFEEN Subsea, a joint venture between AD Ports Group and NMDC Group, offers subsea services and solutions for offshore projects, further expanding its capabilities with the acquisition of ten vessels for around $200 million in 2023.
