Yemeni Ansarallah has declared its intention to attack all ships heading to Israel, as well as British and American vessels. This announcement comes after a UK maritime agency reported an “incident” off the coast of Yemen, and the Yemeni armed forces targeted an American ship in the Gulf of Aden. Previously, Ansarallah had only targeted ships bound for Israeli ports as a way of pressuring Israel to end its war on Gaza. However, the recent expansion of their operations to include American and British ships in the Red Sea is a significant development.

The United States and the British government carried out several attacks on Yemeni targets, resulting in casualties. The US-drafted UN Security Council Resolution 2722 and the US-led Red Sea coalition Prosperity Guardian were meant to secure the Red Sea, but the recent escalation is likely to turn the area into a war zone, impacting the global economy. As a result, many shipping companies have canceled their movements through the Red Sea, and more are likely to follow suit.

The tension in the region has led to an expansion of Ansarallah’s targets, making the Red Sea a potentially dangerous area for shipping. The ongoing conflict has already resulted in casualties and disruptions to global trade, with the situation likely to worsen in the coming days.
