A crew member is missing at sea on the Ambassador Cruise Line’s Ambience ship during its final voyage from Lisbon, Portugal back to the UK. The crew member, who is from India, was reported missing shortly after breakfast while the ship was off Cape Finisterre, Spain. Despite thorough searches and informing the local coastguard, the crew member has not been found.
The Ambience, which departed from Tilbury, Essex on January 6th, is expected to return to port on Sunday. However, its arrival time will be delayed until the evening and all events to mark its return have been cancelled. The cruise line has stated that their immediate priority is to provide support to all crew members affected by the incident and keep guests informed of developments.
Ambassador Cruise Line, based in Purfleet, Essex, operates the Ambience ship which can carry 1,400 guests in its 789 cabins. The ship’s 120-day Grand Round The World Cruise has made stops in various countries including New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and Brazil. The cruise line has expressed deep sadness over the incident and extended thoughts and prayers to the missing crew member’s friends and family.
