Indian Government Undertakes 802 Sagarmala Projects with ₹5.60 Lakh Crore Cost

The Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, announced that the Indian government has undertaken 802 Sagarmala projects across the country, with a total cost of ₹5.60 lakh crore. Andhra Pradesh alone accounts for 113 projects worth about ₹1.23 lakh crore, and 36 projects worth ₹32.210 crore have already been completed. Sonowal visited Visakhapatnam to inaugurate four major projects at the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), including the international cruise terminal. The terminal is part of the Visakha Port Modernisation project and will boost maritime tourism, connecting the city to Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Kandla, and Goa. Sonowal also emphasized efforts to make Visakhapatnam a pollution-free city and expand cargo facilities at VPA with advanced technologies.
