Installation of up to 11 yard cranes and four ship-to-shore cranes is currently underway at a port, with nine cranes already installed and being reviewed for operation with empty containers. The installation work, being carried out by the Indian branch of Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Limited, is crucial as the positioning of the cranes impacts their effectiveness and requires testing on multiple parameters before they can be put into operation. Once completed, the port is expected to attract around 50 percent of ships passing through the international canal, becoming a transshipment hub and providing direct employment to around 5,000 people.

The port is characterized by its depth of over 20 meters and its close proximity to the international shipping canal, being only 11 nautical miles away. This will open up opportunities across various sectors, creating employment not only at the port itself but also through indirect businesses associated with its operations. With the installation work ongoing, the first ship with containers is expected to dock at the port in a few months, once all necessary steps are completed.

Overall, the installation and operation of the cranes at the port are crucial for its functionality and potential to become a transshipment hub, attracting numerous ships passing through the international canal and providing employment opportunities for thousands of people across various sectors.
