Earlier this week, two fishermen experienced a terrifying incident when a massive whale breached and capsized their boat off the coast of New Hampshire. The unexpected encounter occurred on Tuesday, July 23, leaving the men flung into the water as their vessel was overturned. Fortunately, two nearby brothers quickly came to their aid, and despite the loss of their boat, the fishermen remained in good spirits.
The whale involved in the incident has been identified as a humpback, which was likely “lunge feeding” in the vicinity when the collision occurred. After the accident, the capsized vessel was later salvaged, ensuring that the fishermen could recover some of their belongings and equipment from the wreckage.
In another alarming marine encounter, a 40-foot sailboat off the coast of Brittany, France, sustained damage to its rudder after being rammed by two young orcas on July 16. These incidents highlight the unpredictable nature of marine life and the potential dangers that can arise while navigating their habitats.
