World’s Largest LNG Carrier Receives BV AIP

Bureau Veritas (BV) has given its Approval in Principle (AiP) to CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group for a new LNG carrier design. The vessel will have a capacity of 271,000 cubic meters, making it the largest LNG carrier to date. It will use the GTT NO 96 membrane containment system in its five cargo tanks. BV conducted a preliminary design review and hazard identification analysis to ensure the safety, feasibility, and performance of the design in compliance with classification rules and regulations. The President of Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore, Matthieu de Tugny, expressed his admiration for CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua’s ambition and thanked them for their trust and cooperation. Chief Engineer of Hudong-Zhonghua, Song Wei, highlighted that the new LNG carrier will offer enhanced operation flexibility to meet the increasing shipping demand.
