Despite predictions of a supercharged hurricane season in the Atlantic, recent weeks have been unusually quiet. Hurricane Beryl broke records as the earliest Category 5 storm, but since then, there has been little activity. Scientists are puzzled by the lack of tropical development, despite favorable conditions. The season may pick up in mid-September.
