Australia’s dive industry is launching a campaign to expand no-fishing and no-drilling zones, particularly in the Coral Sea, coinciding with a federal review of marine parks. This initiative aims to enhance protections while balancing concerns from the fishing sector about impacts on commercial activities and regional employment.
Australia is bracing for an unprecedented summer of marine heatwaves while recovering from severe coral bleaching. Divers nationwide are uniting to raise awareness through the “Summer of Solidarity” campaign, highlighting the impacts of climate change. With 91% of divers feeling these effects, the movement aims to advocate for stronger climate policies.
